Getting here
To reach Monteverde, Costa Rica from San Jose Airport, take a shared or private shuttle (3 hrs), rent a car (more flexibility but requires local driving knowledge), or fly domestically to La Fortuna followed by a shuttle or drive to Monteverde for a faster and more adventurous option. Roads can be challenging and require 4WD, especially during rainy season. The final leg of the journey to Monteverde is steep and bumpy. Choose a reliable transfer service and prepare accordingly.
